Lynchburg, Va.-based Centra and Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Health affiliates Lifepoint Behavioral Health and Lifepoint Rehabilitation are preparing to open the Centra Behavioral Health Hospital at the Centra Simons Run Medical Campus in Lynchburg.

The 60,000-square-foot, 72-bed facility is designed to provide inpatient behavioral healthcare services for children and adults, according to an April 29 news release from Centra. The hospital includes open community spaces, outdoor courtyards, spacious patient rooms and advanced clinical areas that support patient recovery and healing.

The project is part of Centra’s modernization plan and responds to increased demand for mental healthcare services identified in the health system’s 2021 and 2024 community health needs assessments.

The facility will replace the inpatient behavioral health units at Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital once complete. A ribbon-cutting is planned for May, according to the release.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
