New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System has launched the Marilyn Monroe Mental Health for the Arts Program.
The program provides dedicated mental health services for the performing arts community and is embedded within the Samuel J. Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts in Manhattan’s Theater District. It operates under the direction of Shilpa Taufique, PhD, chief of the psychology division for Mount Sinai.
The initiative was supported by an initial $100,000 gift from Lori Hall and aims to connect patients to Mount Sinai’s network of care. Services include on-site psychiatric care and access to mental health practitioners for acute needs, according to the release.
Mount Sinai Health System has more than 47,000 employees across seven hospitals, more than 400 outpatient practices and more than 600 research and clinical labs.
