Sacramento, Calif.-based UC Davis Children’s Hospital is expanding access to pediatric speciality care through a mobile clinic delivering mental health and physical services to schools and community sites.
The Pediatric Mobile Clinic, launched in 2024, provides free care to underserved populations by partnering with school districts and community-based organizations, according to an April 6 news release from the system. Services include general pediatrics, mental health, developmental-behavioral pediatrics and asthma care as well as assessments for autism and mental health conditions.
From July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, the clinic served 52 children ages 3 to 15 years old through a school-based partnership with Folsom Cordova Unified School District in Rancho Cordova, Calif. No-show rates were less than 10%, and nearly half of patients were insured by Medicaid or had pending coverage. Families rated care an average of 4.95 out of 5.
The program serves as a clinical training site for UC Davis School of Medicine students, pediatric residents, psychology and social work interns and undergraduate community health interns.
The clinic also provides services at community events and organizations, including health screening, flu vaccinations and athlete assessments. In 2025, the clinic expanded to South Sacramento and Del Paso Heights, Calif.
UC Davis Health said the program will continue to grow as demand increases, with early outcomes set to be presented at the 2026 Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting in Boston.
At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
