Nevada County, Calif., officials and partners have broken ground on the $23.7 million Deer Creek Behavioral Health Center; the facility aims to expand access to psychiatric care.
The facility, expected to open in late fall 2027, is located on the Nevada County Government Center campus in Nevada City, Calif., according to a March 31 news release from the county. It will serve patients covered by Medi-Cal and include 16 beds for individuals with acute mental health needs, supporting stays ranging from short-term care to treatment lasting up to a year.
The facility aims to address gaps in care that require patients in crisis to travel hours for treatment. Sacramento, Calif.-based Crestwood Behavioral Health, which operates 32 campuses across the state, will manage the center.
