AHA names 2026 behavioral health committee officers, new members

The American Hospital Association’s committee on behavioral health has announced its officers and new members for 2026. 

Mary Marran, CEO of Care New England and president and COO of Butler Hospital, both based in Providence, R.I., will serve as chair, according to a Jan. 29 news release. Zelia Baugh of Fort Worth, Texas-based JPS Health Network, was named past chair, and Tracey Lavallias of Lancaster (Pa.) General Health was appointed chair-elect. Robert Trestman, MD, of Roanoke, Va.-based Carilion Clinic will serve as AHA board liaison. 

The committee also added:

  • Brent Forester, MD, Tufts Medical Center (Burlington, Mass.)
  • Brandy Hart, HCA Healthcare (Nashville, Tenn.)
  • Chris Beamish, M Health Fairview (Minneapolis)
  • Frank Ghinassi, PhD, Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (Piscataway, N.J.) and RWJBarnabas Health (West Orange, N.J.)
  • Maurice Fried, PhD, Alameda (Calif.) Health System
  • Rob Ryan, PhD, Bowen Health (Warsaw, Ind.)
  • Stephanie Greer, Avery Healthcare Market (Northampton, U.K.), UNC Health Appalachian (Boone, N.C.)
  • Shannah Martin, RN, Appling Healthcare (Baxley, Ga.)
  • Vicky Sabharwal, Jackson Health System (Miami)

The committee advises the AHA on advocacy and policy and serves as a strategic forum on behavioral health issues affecting hospitals and health systems.
