Providence, R.I.-based Butler Hospital has opened a walk-in behavioral health clinic offering same-day care for patients of all ages, WPRI reported Dec. 10.
The new Express Care clinic provides immediate access to licensed clinicians for concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief and stress. During a typical visit, patients are screened to determine their needs and receive a full behavioral health assessment, followed by a personalized care plan. Services include medication review, short-term prescriptions, referrals to outpatient providers or therapy recommendations, according to the report.
Gretchen Anderson, senior clinical director of ambulatory and outpatient behavioral health services, said the program aims to close the gap between scheduled outpatient care and emergency department visits.
The clinic is not intended for those experiencing a crisis or requiring medical stabilization, who should seek emergency care.
