Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Corewell Health has opened West Michigan’s first trauma recovery center, which will offer free mental health services to survivors of violent crime.
The center, located in the Corewell Health Community Medicine Clinic in Grand Rapids, provides mental healthcare funded by the state of Michigan, according to a Nov. 24 news release. The facility is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, social workers and addiction specialists to support patients with psychotherapy, medication management, case management and treatment planning.
The center’s 16-week treatment program reported that 44% of patients experienced decreased PTSD symptoms and 43% experienced decreased depression symptoms, according to the news release.
