States with the most in-network therapists

Rhode Island is the state with the highest percentage of private practice therapists who are in-network with at least one insurance panel, according to a study by behavioral health site Zencare.

Illinois comes in second, and there are only five states in the nation where 50 percent or more private practice therapists are in-network with at least once insurance panel. Twenty-nine states have two-thirds or more of their therapists out-of-network for all patients.

  4. Connecticut – 53.13 percent
  5. Mississippi – 50 percent
  6. Oregon – 45.83 percent
  7. Washington – 45.19 percent
  8. North Carolina – 42.86 percent
  9. Massachusetts – 40.39 percent
