Pennsylvania governor grants $9M for substance use disorder care

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf has approved a $9 million grant for Single County Authorities — agencies that coordinate and oversee substance misuse prevention — to create or expand crisis stabilization programs for individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health issues.

“The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for enhanced and coordinated behavioral health services in Pennsylvania,” Mr. Wolf said in a Nov. 28 news release on his website. “This funding opportunity will make use of Pennsylvania’s share of the federal Opioid Distributor Settlement to build on our existing programs and initiatives.”

Funds will be used for staffing, infrastructure, programming and construction in the expansion of substance use crisis care.
