Opioid use disorder cost the United States $3.8 trillion in 2024, according to analysis from Avalere Health.
In an analysis published May 20, the healthcare firm broke down the average cost of OUD by category and state. Most of the costs of OUD are patient burdens — decreased quality of life, disability, criminal justice involvement and other costs.
