NYC Health + Hospitals is aiming to strengthen its pipeline of behavioral health nurses through a new educational initiative.
Four things to know:
1. The initiative, called the Behavioral Health Nursing Career Ladder, will provide educational and financial support for 24 staff members to enroll in nursing school. Financial assistance will include tuition support and coverage of exam fees.
2. In exchange, participants will agree to work in full-time behavioral health nursing roles at the New York City-based health system for three years after graduation.
3. NYC Health + Hospitals will select the first 24 candidates for the program this month.
4. The program is backed by a $550,000 contribution from the Solon E. Summerfield Foundation and a $50,000 gift from The Louis and Rachel Rudin Foundation.
