The “Statistical Profile of Certified PAs’ by Specialty” report details growth and trends among physician assistants in 25 specialties, according to a Sept. 20 news release sent to Becker’s.

Five things to know from the report:

  • There were 2,262 certified psychiatry physician assistants in 2021, a 0.6 percent increase from 2017.

 

  • 28.7 percent of psychiatry physician assistants identify as male, down 2 percent from 2017, while 71.3 percent of psychiatry physician assistants identify as female, up 2 percent from 2017.

 

  • The median age of psychiatry physician assistants in 2021 was 39.

 

  • The average income of psychiatric physician assistants in 2021 was $117,214.

 

  • The average psychiatry physician assistant worked 39 hours a week in 2021.
