San Francisco’s public health department has partnered with Pleasant Hill. Calif.-based Crestwood Behavioral Health to open a stabilization center, CBS News reported April 24.

The $6.7 million center will be staffed 24/7 by physicians, nurses and behavioral health specialists. First patients will be admitted April 28.

The facility is designed for homeless patients who are experiencing a mental crisis and need immediate treatment. Once they are stabilized, they can be connected to other services and shelters.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
