Acadia to acquire 3 opioid treatment centers: 3 things to know

Acadia Healthcare has acquired three opioid treatment centers in South Carolina.

According to an Oct. 15 news release, the Franklin, Tenn.-based system acquired Recovery Concepts, Recovery Concepts of the Carolina Upstate and Clear Skye Treatment Center in the state. 

Here are three things to know: 

  1. Acadia operates 165 comprehensive treatment centers in 33 states, according to the news release. 
  2. Earlier this year, Acadia said it would open 14 new comprehensive treatment centers in 2024. Acadia CEO Chris Hunter said the company is “increasingly seen as an acquirer of choice” for smaller opioid treatment clinics. 
  3. Acadia’s comprehensive treatment centers offer behavioral and medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder.
