The clinic is one of only a few in Prince George’s County, which borders Washington, D.C., in Maryland and is considered a mental health desert, the report said. It was funded with a $20 million grant that voters reallocated from a police training facility.

It will include therapy for children in crisis and counseling for parents, the report said. The clinic is expected to start taking patients in July, with second-floor inpatient beds becoming available later in 2022.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
