Avera will add 16 beds for adult care in the new Helmsley Behavioral Health Center in Sioux Falls, according to a Jan. 3 news release. The project will be funded by $2.1 million in federal funds and $1.2 million from the South Dakota Department of Social Services and American Rescue Plan Act funds.
Additionally, Avera will be building an 18-bed unit for adults, seniors, and crisis stabilization for adolescents at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, which currently has 10 beds for inpatient behavioral healthcare. This project will be supported in part by $1.5 million from Dacotah Bank, along with state and ARPA funds.
