According to a Dec. 21 news release from California Gov. Gavin Newsom, the state will grant $100 million to trauma-informed practices and programs, and $50 million to youth-driven community center programs.
The state is also introducing a certified wellness coach program, designed to train coaches to work in schools and community organizations to support mental health providers.
“As children across California struggle with mental health challenges, we are building the supports they need — in their schools and communities — to improve their health and well-being,” Mr. Newsom said. “These investments are becoming reality through a diverse workforce that is reaching every community. That’s why we are launching a new program to hire coaches in this space and support wellness for all children and young adults.”
