Here are four more numbers to know on mental health from the survey, which was released Nov. 13 and compiled responses from both in person and online:
- The percentage of adults who reported any mental illness in the past year was highest among those between 18 and 25 years old at 36.2%, or 12.6 million people.
- In 2022, 15.4 million people, or 6%, reported having serious mental illness in the last year.
- Similar to any mental illness, the percentage of adults who reported serious mental illness in the past year was highest among those between 18 and 25 years old at 11.6%, or 4 million people.
- Nearly half of young adults between 18 to 25 reported having either a substance use disorder or any mental illness in the past year at 48.8%, or 17.0 million people.
