Here are five more numbers to know on mental health treatment from the survey, which was released Nov. 13 and compiled responses both in person and online:
- A total of 29.8% of adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17, or 7.7 million people, received mental health treatment in the past year.
- A total of 56.8% of adolescents who experienced a major depressive episode in the past year, or 2.7 million people, received mental health treatment.
- A total of 50.6% of adults with any mental illness, or 30 million people, received mental health treatment in the past year.
- A total of 66.7% of adults with serious mental illness, or 10.2 million people, received mental health treatment in the past year.
- A total of 26.6% of adults with any mental illness who did not receive treatment, or 7.6 million people, either sought treatment or did not seek treatment but thought they should get it.
