The investment will allow incoming patients to receive psychiatric help without disrupting care for other patients in the emergency department. The funding was secured by Sen. Tom Carper and Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester.

“We want to make sure that not only do people get the kind of care that they need, but they also, on the mental health side, for those who are entering the emergency room, the care that they get is good and it’s calming and it works on a number of levels,” Mr. Carper said in the report.
