Healthkeeperz is alleged to have submitted ineligible claims to, and received reimbursement from, North Carolina Medicaid from January 2016 through October 2019. The allegations were brought by a whistleblower lawsuit, the department said.
Under the “qui tam” provisions of the federal and North Carolina False Claims Acts, private citizens can sue on behalf of the government for false claims and share in any recovery.
