UNC Health has provided services at the Wake County-owned facility — WakeBrook — for a decade, leaving patients to find mental health and substance use care elsewhere while the county looks for a new provider.
Wake County said it was “disappointed” by UNC Health’s decision to end services, as the partnership struggled to agree on service contract terms, according to the report.
WakeBrook will remain closed for a period of time, and UNC Health will relocate the primary care clinic that was also at the facility. However, the county is working with Alliance Health, the state’s behavioral health managed care organization, to get started with a new provider as soon as possible.
