$7.28M renovation planned for Baptist Health children’s behavioral health unit

Baptist Health’s Wolfson Children’s Hospital, based in Jacksonville, Fla., received a city permit to begin a $7.28 million interior renovation project that will almost double its number of inpatient beds, according to a July 25 report from Jacksonville Daily Record.

The 31,600-square-foot facility will add 20 inpatient beds to the existing beds in the hospital’s Freeman Behavioral Health Unit and emergency center behavioral health pod. The renovation was made possible by a $3 million donation from the Players Championship Village and $5 million from the state.

The renovation will address the increased demand for pediatric inpatient behavioral healthcare, as the hospital had to place 50 patients in need of care on a waitlist during the pandemic, according to the report.
