10 least stressed states

The United Health Foundation’s America’s Health Rankings ranked states with the most and least mental distress.

Residents responded to a survey about whether their mental health was not good for 14 out of the last 30 days to calculate mental distress.

While the national average was 14.7 percent, residents from six states reported average mental distress more frequently.

Here are the 10 states with the least stress:

1. Hawaii: 10.7 percent

2. South Dakota: 11.4 percent

3. Minnesota: 12.3 percent

4. North Dakota: 12.6 percent

5. Connecticut: 12.7 percent

6. Maryland: 12.7 percent

7. Illinois: 12.9 percent

8. Delaware: 13 percent

9. New York: 13 percent

10. Nebraska: 13.1 percent
