The 2023 HCS Behavioral Health Salary & Benefits Report surveyed 462 behavioral health facilities and gathered data on 31,361 employees. The report included responses from nonprofit and for-profit facilities across 56 jobs.
The report found psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioners experienced a 14 percent pay increase year over year. In 2023, the nurses made $74.85 per hour compared to $65.66 per hour last year.
Psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioners in Idaho had the lowest hourly pay rate at $61.96 while in California the nurses received $87.93 on average, which was the highest pay rate.
Overall, psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioners reported an average bonus of $2,641 last year.
