The funding will be used to develop a 20-bed inpatient pediatric behavioral health unit at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. The project will cost a total of $8.9 million, the report said.

The new unit seeks to address the increasing demand for pediatric mental health care in the region, with there currently only being 65 pediatric inpatient behavioral health beds between Daytona Beach and Fernandina Beach.
