Students at six substance abuse treatment providers across the state will be paid to earn a substance abuse counseling certification through hands-on training, according to a May 17 news release from Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office.
The state hopes the initiative will help curb its ongoing opioid and substance abuse crisis by bolstering its behavioral health workforce.
