The federally funded hotline launched on Mother’s Day of 2022 and averaged around 1,000 interactions per month, with the most common reason for calling being depression, anxiety or feeling overwhelmed.
The hotline operates 24/7 and offers support before, during and after pregnancy. Seventy percent of interactions since its May 8, 2022, launch were phone calls, with the remaining 30 percent being text messages.
Interactions with the hotline increased by 73 percent in the week after the news of a Massachusetts woman who allegedly killed her three children Jan. 24 due to potential postpartum psychosis hit the headlines, the report said.
The hotline is available 24/7 at 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262).
