Providence Alaska is expanding adolescent psychiatric care in Anchorage with a 16-bed residential treatment center set to open later this fall.
The Providence Youth Behavioral Health Center will provide 24-hour psychiatric care for adolescents ages 12-17. Patients at the level 5 residential psychiatric treatment center will typically stay 30 to 60 days, according to a Sept. 24 news release from the system.
Treatment will include clinician-led group therapy and a structured daily program designed to help residents develop emotional regulation skills and prepare to return to their communities. Families will also have access to education focused on communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution.
The Alaska Department of Health, Well Being Trust and donors to the Providence Alaska Foundation supported the center.
