San Diego County is advancing plans for a $240 million behavioral health campus, according to an Aug. 20 report from KUSI News.
The approximately 120,000-square-foot campus will provide crisis care, mental health treatment, addiction services and recovery support. The county estimates it will serve more than 22,000 residents each year.
The county secured $99.5 million in Proposition 1 behavioral health infrastructure funding from the state for the project. The County Board of Supervisors’ latest action added $22.3 million for planning, procurement design and permitting, bringing current pre-construction funding to $35 million. The funding will allow the county to begin selecting the team responsible for designing and building the campus.
The project is expected to be completed by June 1, 2031.
At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
