Fond du Lac County, Wis., leaders are considering closing the county’s 16-bed inpatient behavioral healthcare acute psychiatric unit due to rising operating costs, according to a July 7 report from ABC affiliate WBAY.
The Fond du Lac County Public Safety Committee was scheduled to discuss the proposal during a July 7 meeting. If approved, the unit would close effective Jan. 1, 2027.
Residents have spoken out against the proposal, citing the importance of maintaining access to local mental healthcare services, WBAY reported.
