Dallas-based UT Southwestern Medical Center has opened a behavioral health hospital in partnership with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
The Texas Legislature approved funding for the hospital, and Dallas-based Children’s Health provided funding for the hospital’s pediatric wing, according to a June 16 news release from UT Southwestern.
UT Southwestern will operate the Texas Behavioral Health Center, which is expected to begin seeing patients in summer 2026. The hospital will have 292 beds, with up to 92 beds reserved for pediatric patients.
The facility will house therapeutic, recreational and social spaces including a beauty salon, gym, greenhouse and chapel, the release said.
