CCBHCs were developed to transform mental health and substance use treatment across the country, according to a March 24 news release. They are required to offer an array of services, including crisis services that are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The funding will be available through the CCBHC Planning, Development and Implementation grant to establish new CCBHC programs and the CCBHC Improvement and Advancement grant, which will be used to support existing programs that meet certification requirements.
The establishment of these grants follows the department awarding 15 states with $1 million, one-year certified community behavioral health clinic planning grants March 16.
