Hershey, Pa.-based Penn State Health is bringing its psychiatric and behavioral health programs together under one systemwide brand, Penn State Health Psychiatry and Behavioral Health.

The transition includes inpatient and outpatient programs formerly operated by Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute, according to a May 18 news release from the system. Adult, adolescent and pediatric inpatient psychiatric care will move to Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill, Pa., where 53 psychiatric beds are scheduled to open July 13.

Holy Spirit Medical Center will remain a 293-bed acute care hospital and level 2 trauma center. Its current 31-bed behavioral health unit and outpatient behavioral health programs also will transition into the unified service line.

Penn State Health said outpatient programs will continue operating in Harrisburg, Pa., with some services relocating later this year. Third Street Clinic programs are set to move Aug. 10, while the Advancement in Recovery Program will relocate, effective Sept. 8.

Penn State Health serves communities across 15 counties in central Pennsylvania and employs more than 21,900 people across the organization, according to the release.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
